Applications are invited for a post of Research Associate in a joint experimental and theoretical project entitled “Physical properties of elemental solids, their compounds and oxides, and mineral phases at extreme conditions of pressure and temperature: an experimental and theoretical study” in the Department of Physical Sciences (DoPS), IISER Kolkata.

Research Associate

Selected candidate will work in a broad interdisciplinary area of physics, materials science and geosciences under the supervision of Dr. Goutam Dev Mukherjee at DoPS, IISER Kolkata, Prof. Tanusri Saha Dasgupta at S.N. Bose National Centre for Basic Sciences, Kolkata and Prof. Sushanta Dattagupta,Vice-Chancellor, Visva-Bharati. The position will be tenable initially for a period of one year. They may be extended further up to two more years based on satisfactory progress.

Eligibility: The candidates having Ph D degree in Physics/Material Science, or have submitted their thesis or will be submitting thesis shortly are eligible for applying. The candidate is desirable to have experience in electronic structure calculations and statistical physics.

Salary: For both the positions the salary will be Rs. 22000 + 30% HRA
